FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances, most often made with hyaluronic acid, that are carefully injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance natural facial features.

What areas can fillers treat?

Fillers are commonly used in the lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, under-eyes (tear troughs), temples, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and even the backs of hands.

How long do they last?

Depending on the type of filler and treatment area, results can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. Your body naturally breaks down the product over time.

Do filler injections hurt?

Most fillers contain lidocaine (a numbing agent) to make treatment more comfortable. You may feel a slight pinch or pressure, but most clients describe it as very tolerable.

Is there downtime?

There is little to no downtime. You may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising for a few days, but this typically resolves quickly. Many clients return to their normal activities the same day.

When will I see results?

Results are immediate, with improvements continuing as any swelling subsides over the first 1–2 weeks.

How much filler will I need?

This depends on your goals, facial anatomy, and the area being treated. Some clients need a single syringe, while others benefit from multiple placed strategically. Your provider will create a personalized plan for you.

How long does the appointment take?

Most appointments are 30–60 minutes, depending on the areas being treated. This includes consultation, treatment, and post-care review.

What can I do before my appointment to prepare?

Avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, and certain supplements (like fish oil, vitamin E, and ginkgo biloba) for at least 24–48 hours beforehand, as these can increase your risk of bruising. Arrive with a clean face, and let your provider know about any recent procedures, medications, or medical conditions.

What should I avoid after treatment?

For the first 24 hours, avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, excessive sun or heat exposure, and pressing or massaging the treated area (unless instructed otherwise). This helps reduce swelling and ensures the filler settles smoothly.

What are the possible side effects?

Common, temporary side effects include redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site. These usually resolve within a few days. Rare but more serious complications (such as infection or vascular occlusion) are why it’s important to be treated by a qualified, experienced medical professional.
